In spring 1988 a huge new campaign
was started for a new beginning of the
RWR transmissions with high power.
Results were encouraging and it seemed
that the people were very interested in
Free Radio. The new transmitter arrived
shortly before Easter 1988. The new
transmitter was a 150 watt one with a
2-element Yagi directional antenna.Out-
put power was 300 watts in STEREO which
was more than the power of the legal
local radio in Jyvaskyla.
High power transmissions started
April 8th 1988 at 23.00 Finnish time in
95.5 MHz FM,in stereo.That transmission
went all right and the reception had
been good for long distances, too. RWR
also got pretty good publicity both in
local and national medias. RWR appeared
for the second time in Commercial TV's
10 o'clock news,too. PTL and police had
been in Jyvaskyla with 8 cars full of
men and a reward was promised to those
who'd catch RWR in action.
Before the beginning of broadcasts
there had been lots of talk in medias
about the danger pirate radios present

for aircraft and other radio
communication. After RWR started there
was nothing like that in newspapers
anymore. All noticed that RWR uses high
quality equipment, for example the
stereocoder was made by a dutch pro-
fessor of technique!
A week later RWR's story was close to
its end. In April 15th 1988 PTL and
police arrived to the place of
transmission only two minutes after the
end of the program. RWR-boys managed to
run away, but some of the equipment was
lost in the woods. PTL followed for a
few kilometers but RWR ran faster.
Broadcasts were difficult to do since
there was still some 70-100 cm snow in
forests. Also the situation was really
heating up, because there were so many
PLT people in town. They had been on
RWR's trail for almost three years and
now it seemed that they really wanted
to close down RWR. That was why RWR
decided to have a little break after
one more broadcast and wait until the
snow disappeared.
The transmission was in April 22nd
1988 at 23.00. ----->
